Kids On Stoke is a very cool website and as I have discovered first hand, a very good way to waste time. There is interesting articles on all sorts of shit from waves & skate to girls & nintendo. The writing is engaging and firmly tongue in cheek and the site lord Jackson is one of the best guys you’ll ever meet. Yeh we designed the logo, but don’t let that put you off. Head over to WWW.KIDSONSTOKE.COM now and get lost.
Recently completed this series of logo’s for Adelaide band ‘The Skeleton Club’. The designs will be used for merchandise this year and printed one colour on tee’s and crew neck jumpers. The guys have created a truly unique and exciting sound so far in TSC and they wanted artwork that represented their personality well without pigeon holing them. if you are intrigued to hear what it’s all about head over to listen and download a couple of tracks from http://www.triplejunearthed.com/theskeletonclub. Great band to keep an eye on in the future.
Hope everyone had a great xmas/new year break and did plenty of whatever it is they enjoy doing at that time of year wether it be eating lots of food, getting stupidly drunk and inappropriate with your extended family, getting away from people camping and chilling or eating your face off surrounded by people at a festival… we hope you indulged to the fullest.
Now I’m going surfing. I wont be near a computer for a while so I suggest instead of contacting us about work you should do the same… Go surfing.
Decided to throw up a bit of a Work In Progress post on this last job of mine before the holidays. Bit of logo work for a new beer label startup being based out of the United States with ingredients sourced locally and from an area of Canada. Going for the real indie feel and playing on the north america/canada vibes…
New Zealand is known around the world for having a shit load of sheep, but after spending nearly 3 weeks cruising around the coast of the North island I have to say that it kinda just seems like a similar ratio to here in Vic – What we did find however was an abundance of world class waves and a whole lot of camo print.. It was everywhere! It was unusual to drive down a strip and not see a local in camo, they had shorts, tee’s, jackets, boots, hats, we saw a whole van painted in it and someones front fence of their house painted. Saw it in menswear shops next to the suits. It was fucked! If someone wants to make some serious $$ they should make camo print wellingtons and distribute them through Pak-n-Save, you would never have to work another day in your life! Anyway, here are some photographs from the road on the North island of New Zealand as seen through my Olympus Trip 35mm. Enjoy.
Cover artwork we recently completed for Adelaide Pop-Punk band All year Round. There is a lot I like about this design, the simplicity, the symmetrical nature of the layout, the colors and the fact that I didn’t base the design around a book cover/pages/story theme. Single coming to iTunes in January.
Let’s face it, things are slow to pick up after holidays are over and the reality blues sets in good. In order to combat this we are offering a week of cheap rates on all design jobs. I don’t know how cheap, maybe a little off, maybe a lot… maybe free who knows. If you are interested in getting anything done shoot through an email to us before the end of the week (Friday). Froth.
The month before I headed off to New Zealand was spend developing and designing this concept with Adelaide band Some Time Soon. It was refreshing for a band in the pop/punk scene wanting to go for a different approach to their image and artwork and not just blindly follow trends. It was a fun project and I’m sad to find out that the band has just called it a day and the EP and artwork will never be officially released as it was planned. I thought it a shame for it to go to waste so here it is anyway. The cover that never ran – Just Pretend.
Last month we spent a few weeks driving around New Zealand’s beautiful North Island. Lots of Tui’s and Lion Reds were drunk, lots of waves ridden and too much coffee and lollies consumed… I documented the trip on my Olympus Trip 35mm and that’s where the gold will lie but until the rolls are developed here is New Zealand through the lens of my Iphone 4, put through a social network with some shitty filter and blur effects added for likes.
I shot and put together this series of 4 images for the lead up to the launch of Melbourne band Madison’s upcoming single ‘Trouble’. The images show band members in a thoughtful/troubled state coupled with corresponding lyrics from the song as well as the tagline for the single. The song is due out late September.
A few days ago I returned from a surf trip in Southern Sumatra, Indonesia. The place is amazing, a real surfers paradise. Was by far the best trip I have done surfing or otherwise, the area, the people and the surf were beyond amazing. I took along a 1970′s Olympus Trip 35mm film camera to capture some of the sights and memories. Here is a selection of my favourite pics from the rolls. Hope you enjoy this small look into my time there…
July has been a pretty slow month over here, although we have completed a few really cool projects, unfortunately I can’t post them yet until the client unveils them first. So in the meantime here is a pic of the waves I got this morning, one of the benefits of a quiet week! Cracking winters day on the Victorian coast.
Hopefully we should be posting some cool work in the next few weeks, stay tuned!
I want one of these shapes from http://rakefoamshapes.com/ so bad! They look like ridiculous fun, twin or quad set ups on a board that looks like a mal cut in half. Have heard nothing but good things and just want to try one out asap. Might have to wait for the summer slop to roll around again though.
Oh, and also custom pigments and prints.
